The three letters that took down a dynasty

Dunnes Final Game

I’ve been a little quiet lately, but wanted to make sure the fans worldwide knew what was up with the Pythons.  As it stands the Pythons sit lower table in Richmond’s, Div 1 Ladies.  For a team that won 6 straight, I hear you all crying out. Why Malcolm, why are the Pythons not winning!

In short, the Pythons have lost three of their core roster to season ending and probably career ending ACL injuries. Hindson was the first to go down back in May. She’s had surgery and is well and truly on the mend.  Next to go was Langerak,  she did hers in a rough and tumble game back in September and actually got up and played on for 5 minutes before realizing that it was over. Langerak is yet to go under the knife because of a busy social calendar, she couldn’t possibly be seen with a limp. Most recently, in the last game before Christmas, Sandy Robertson Medal Winner and 3 x Club Best and Fairest Alanna Dunne snapped her ACL in a battle against the Albert Park Falcs.

Langerak has since consulted with friends and family and announced her retirement from all netball. It seems likely that she will go on and have a successful career in stationary biking, perhaps some aqua jogging and is talking a big game about Coast Trek 2017.

Dunne goes under the knife tomorrow due to having high end health insurance and access to the best surgeons in Melbourne. On behalf of the Pythons organization we wish her all the best and are confident she will make a full recovery. It’s possible we may one day see her canter up and down the court in a pre-game warm up once again.

Hindy is yet to make a statement to the press, but with a successful career and plenty of other passions such as Pinot Gris and Adele, it looks unlikely she will ever lace up the Asics Net burners again.

Our newest Python Jenny has announced a move back to Sydney to follow her dreams and Jen’s responsibilities with work mean she is required 3 days a week Sydney so is indefinitely out of action.

And so it is the Pythons find themselves with only 5 of the core team left on the active roster. Elle Mena, Jessie Larritt (C), Maria C, Parks and the Shepparton Express, Fed Kaso.  Each week we make the team up with fill ins and battlers of various standards, the continuity isn’t there, some might say the passion just isn’t there.

What becomes of the Pythons. Time will tell. But they’ll never take those Thursdays off us. Those untouchable, unbeatable Thursdays.
