The Dream

The Dream

From here on in Pythons fans, the perfect season will be referred to as ‘the dream’ and make no mistake. That’s our goal.  As it stands, we’re 11-0 after tonight’s 21-3 win over the Swinburne Razors. We only have 4 more rounds to complete an unbeaten regular season and then a Semi and Final to complete The Dream.

Tonight was a hilarious night for the Pythons with both Parker and Langerak rocking their shooting sleeves for the first time. The first quarter stat lines for our normally exceptional shooters read.

Parker: 0 from 2

Langerak: 3 from 8.

Laura and I were having a genuine chuckle on the sideline, awaiting the shooters to come off and blame the sleeve placebo for their missed shots, however as the whistle blew with the score 3-2 against the bottom ranked Swinburne, the wrath fell not on the sleeves but on the underweight ball. It was promptly swapped by Pythons Captain Jess Larritt for the second quarter, and the rest they say is history.

8 – 0 in the second, 7 – 0 in the third, and 6 – 1 in the fourth led to a 21 – 3 victory to the Pythons, the Swinburne team played with great spirit and plenty of fight but ultimately got outplayed in  all facets of the game.

What we learnt:

  • Shooting sleeves do not contribute to shooting numbers.
  • They look fucking good though.
  • When Laura turns up, she is one of the best wings in the league (sorry to all her country netball mates who still fancy her as a GS)
  • Jen loves the Pythons, but loves her new puppy more. Still had a really good game somehow.
  • Pythons no longer ask the umpire questions at half time. (ever)
  • Statistically, 700% goal difference is the Pythons second most dominant performance all time. This was not reflected in the game however.
  • Elle loves an elaborate story at half time.
  • Langerak shoots better when the other team smashes into the post and its wobbling like crazy.
  • For the first time in the history of the Sandy Robertson Medal – Every played polled in tonight’s vote-count.
  • Maria has already found a solution for the Fitbit ban handed down tonight.

I have taken the liberty of writing a list of some of the best athletes in the world that wear shooting sleeves.

  • Milos Raonic
  • Amanda Parker
  • Lebron James
  • Amanda Langerak
  • Allen Iverson
